Breakouts

Every Life Matters

Location: Nile
Leader: Tom Coverly

"Respect" Tom challenges students in regards to respecting themselves, others, parents, and authority. This talk touches on the topics of bullying, eating disorders, cutting, suicide, and self image. Tom encourages students with Scripture to understand how God sees them. Every life matters, including yours! God created you and declared you "very good." He made you not as junk, but as treasure with much value. It is time to destroy the lies that Satan has been telling you and live like you matter!

Growing Up with Two Moms

Location: Sagewood & Zebrawood
Leader: Captain Stephen Mayes

This breakout is about learning how to love family and friends who are gay. Sometimes it feels like the Christian community doesn’t know how to respond to homosexuality. So whether it is something that you struggle with personally or if you know someone that is, we encourage you to attend and learn and discuss how God calls us to treat others.

Seeing God in Your Brokenness

Location: Banyan
Leader: Cadet Kimberly Clark & Cadet Dustin Fitch

Who does God say that you are? Who do you believe that you are? It's so easy to start listening to the voices of the world and to drown out what God says. Come to this session and be reaffirmed with who God says you are and who God has called you to be!

YA Kit-Kat: Take A Break!     YOUNG ADULTS ONLY!

Location: Ironwood
Leader: Reid Phifer Project

This is a special time designed for Young Adults only to be able to take some time and be refreshed during this busy weekend. Often as young adults, you are leaders and chaperones but you can't continue to help and serve others if you aren't fed yourselves. Take a time out from bed checks and phone patrol to enjoy worship and Scripture!

This breakout will only be offered at 4 pm!

Instruments VS Ornaments     GIRLS ONLY!

Location: Leopardwood & Rosewood
Leader: Lt. Colonel Renee Lance

The Bible tells us that we are made in the image of God, and Paul wrote that we are God's dwelling place. Is your body an instrument ready for God's special purposes or is it an ornament to show off to the world? We'll take a look at Second Timothy and learn about God's design for each person.

Same Sex Marriage & Transgender Workshop

Location: Ironwood
Leader: Colonel Richard Munn

The constitutional right for same sex marriage is the law of the land. Additionally, there is increasing broad cultural acceptance of transgender sexuality. Religious bodies are an important part of a long dialogue on these matters. Interestingly, there are a wide range of responses, from ready acceptance to steadfast opposition, and somewhere in-between. How does The Salvation Army contribute to the dialogue? What are your questions? This workshop will provide an overview of the subject matters and offer an opportunity for questions in a safe space. Do not come expecting neat, easy answers. Do not come with your mind made up, and your speech already rehearsed.

This breakout will be offered only at 5 pm and it is designed for corps officers and leaders!
